Unveiling the art of Engineering: electrifying advice at the MCA

The Haron Robson team is proud to have been involved in the redevelopment of Australia’s top space for modern art, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) at Circular Quay. With the aim of not only expanding its presence but also enhancing its offerings, the $55 million project now stands 50% larger and inclusive than ever.

We were commissioned by RP infrastructure to infuse the MCA with the best of our expertise and transcend the ordinary, such as introducing state-of-the-art electrical, lighting, and audio-visual systems, towards the final stage of a four-part plan that we helped complete over ten years. We strategically integrated LED lighting technologies to ensure that each piece of art is shown off to its best advantage. Furthermore, our designed audio-visual functionalities now integrate seamlessly into the museum's theatre, seminar, and gallery spaces, accommodating both modern and classic art expressions.

We also prioritised the museum’s security and functionality. By implementing full dimming controls, advanced track lighting systems, and a comprehensive CCTV access control system, we ensured that the MCA stands not just as an art hub but as a technologically advanced and secure haven.

Additional thanks to Sam Marshall Architects, the MCA is now a shining beacon for art enthusiasts, and we at Haron Robson are elated to have played a part in this brighter, safer, and smarter revolution.
